My Files

Thus I was born with
those few basic programmes.

As voices and visuals poured in
I felt I got access to more.

Later I had my own words
Making me edit, delete,
Update and add more.

More faces, words, deeds
Knowledge, experiences –
The evolving continued.

Then the teenage rebellion!

The ordeals of life
Overhauled them often.

At times they were futile
Making me look pathetic.

Now here I am today,
digging into the enormous,
tangled pile of life files
searching frantically for
my disaster management docs!

Tell me your secrets

I could hear Wind roaring
In languages unknown to me.

It was lonely –
Lonely as the cold desert!

Sometimes loud and scary
At times silent and creepy.

I could feel
His dry tears of loss.

I was weather-beaten,
And my brain – tired!

I tried and tried
Oh, but Wind
Never let me
Know his secrets!

Invisible roots

P1210122 - Copy

I had no idea
That I had grown
So many
Roots invisible
That supported
Sustained,
Tethered too –
Never letting go,
Smothering, pulling,
Whining, threatening,
Emotionally blackmailing!

Fed up,
I broke off,
Dreaming of new pastures
Unknown nourishment,
And experiences.

Now they haunt me –
The unseen ghosts
Of my Invisible Roots.
They blame me
Entice me
They whisper out loud
‘Come back!’

Some day I must,
And try to reconnect
The severed roots
One by one,

Patiently!

Old Keys

Tiny,
Hefty,
Long,
Flat,
Hollow…

They once guarded
Unknown doors,
Strong lockers,
Antique trunks,
Grand gates,
While the owners slept peacefully.

Though abandoned, lost, separated,
They still
…hold secrets
…guard treasures
…lock somebody up(!)
But they no longer
…start engines
…help succeed 😉
… peep through. 😛

Wonder what mystery
They may unlock,
Some day.

Widowed
Rusty
Old keys.

I lock them up!

Ripples

Now I am a lake.
Every skimming swallow
And every blowing breeze
Stir up ripples on me.

They spread out,
Grow wider but less intense.
Seconds,
Minutes…

I wait for stillness –
Patiently!
And then it sails in –
Peace!

I savour
The brief lull,
Till the  swallow or breeze
Returns to taunt or tickle me.

Let the swallows skim
And the breeze blow,
They can’t help it,
I don’t mind rippling either.

Play it safe with your emoticons

(What can you do if you unintentionally rile someone with your words? This is a comment to myself – an attempt to patch up.)

You had in mind a ‘Jeu d’esprit’        :-O
Which has ended up a dud wit!         _
Yes, you were smiling as you typed it      😉
But remember she was miles away!

*sigh*

 It would have worked face-to-face;
It should have been in your mother tongue.

*sigh*

All you can do now is
Wear this     D:<   emoticon round your neck,
And chant these mantras while commenting:        O:)

No more ‘humorous’ comments,
(Loose lips sink ships!)
No more trusting those phony smileys.

Om, shanti, shanti, shanti….         :-|

Will it mend it or rend it?
